Come celebrate St. Georges's Day (April 23rd) and share Debbie's love affair with the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales as she talks about Alf Wight, the beloved real veterinarian behind the multimedia franchise, All Creatures Great and Small.
Better known as the author James Herriot, Wight lived in Thirsk, where Debbie and her husband Vaughn have visited more than two dozen times. Watching the current PBS TV series All Creatures Great and Small satisfies them until they can return to the people, places and pets in his stories.
Debbie retired as managing editor of a community newspaper after 36 years in journalism. Her days are filled with volunteering at church, presenting vintage fashion shows for her local historical society and restoring the society's 1790 log house in Elizabeth Township.
Debbie currently serves on Britsburgh's Board and its Executive Planning Team. Along with her husband, Vaughn, she often leads friends on tours to Great Britain, as well as organizes regional trips for senior citizens.
In addition to Debbie's fascinating talk, we'll enjoy a fabulous luncheon at the renowned LeMont restaurant atop Mt. Washington. VALET PARKING is available ($9.00, payable to valet).
