"Say Hello to Your Cousin": An American Soldier in Britain
In honor of the 80th anniversary of D-Day, join us as we follow a Western Pennsylvanian member of the 29th Infantry Division as he trains in Britain. The 29th was the second American division to arrive in the UK, spending nearly two years living and training in the southwest of England. Through photographs, artifacts and letters, we will explore the “friendly invasion” from the American perspective.
Presenters: DANA C. DEL BIANCO: has a degree in History from Carnegie Mellon University. She has studied World War II extensively, including conducting original research on the Eastern Front. She has developed several war-related presentations. JAMES J. "JIM" STRATTON has been a World War II history enthusiast since the age of ten. "While my classmates were discussing Star Wars, I was reading about the exploits of real heroes!" he explains.
We hope you'll join us for what should be a very memorable jaunt through history!
